Private Email
What is Private Email ?Private Email is complete privacy in email communications from keyboard to keyboard, where everything is fully encrypted, header, content and attachments, and where sender and recipient email addresses cannot be seen, spoofed or hacked while in transit. You simply download the LOQAgent from WebLOQ, follow the simple installation instructions and begin sending Private Email within minutes. Can I use my existing email address ?
In order to send Private Email, only private addresses are accepted. This is what protects your WebLOQ Private Email account from spam, address harvesting and identity theft. Once you have installed Private Email, you will have two email accounts, the Private Email account and your existing email account. When sending, all you have to do is choose the email address from which you wish to send email, from the drop-down menu in your email client. Who can I send Private Email to ?
You can send Private Email to anyone with a Private Email address. If you want to communicate with someone who does not yet have a WebLOQ account, you can invite them to sign up and get a Private Email address in minutes at www.webloq.com. How do I verify senders and recipients ?
The LOQAgent only works with Private Email addresses. An alert message will be displayed when an email address is incorrect or a public email address has been included in the recipient field (To:) for a Private Email. How do I track Private Emails ?
The Private Email Compliance Report can be accessed by right-clicking on the LOQAgent tray icon in the lower right corner of the screen. A search tool is included to help you quickly find any sent or received email and its tracking information.
Private Domain Names
What is a Private Domain Name ?A private domain name is a totally unique way to identify a private email subscriber, where each subscriber has a unique Private Email address that cannot be seen, spoofed or hacked while in transit. A private domain name operates independent of the public DNS. What is a Private Email Address ?
The Private Email Address consist of your username and a basic private domain name chosen from a list of eighteen pre-selected industry names and six popular extensions indicating privacy. Example: johndoe@business.private Can I create my own Private Domain Name ?
During the introduction period, WebLOQ offers a wide choice of domain names using two pre-selected fields. Applications for custom, reserved and premium domain names will be accepted shortly. Can my Private Domain Name be stolen or spoofed ?
The private domain has no value to anyone other than a legitimate WebLOQ subscriber and cannot be spoofed or hijacked. WebLOQ is a non-anonymous service where every subscriber is known and all email addresses are verified.
Download & Installation
How difficult is Private Email to learn and use ?Provided you are already an email user, no special skills are needed. The download is fast and easy. Installation and configuration are automated and require little intervention. Do I need any special hardware or software ?
No. All you need is a laptop, desktop, smartphone a browser and a standard public email account. What type of connection do I need ?
WebLOQ Private Email requires a broadband connection, such as DSL, cable or broadband wireless. The broadband connection is required to handle the larger size of encrypted messages. What Email Clients are compatible with WebLOQ Private Email ?
Virtually any email client will work with Private Email. The WebLOQ Email auto-configuration tool is available for use with Outlook 2003 & 2007, Outlook Express, Thunderbird and Eudora. If you use MacMail or an email client not listed, use the configuration shown in the Self-Help Documents or Email Setup Tutorials which can be found on the website www.webloq.com or by right clicking on the LOQAgent icon in the lower right corner of the screen and choosing Help. Can I install Private Email on more than one computer ?
Yes, you can use Private Email on multiple computers. The setup guide for “Adding a Second Device” can be found on the website www.webloq.com and includes information on how to copy and install your account profile on additional desktop or laptop computers. Can I connect through my company network ?
Yes. Because standard email ports are used, you can connect to Private Email from anywhere. If you are installing WebLOQ behind the firewall within your company, you may experience port and/or proxy issues that prevent WebLOQ from accessing the Internet. In that event please contact us, and we will help you resolve any such problems.
Sending & Receiving
Can I use Private Email both with my regular email account ?Once you have installed Private Email, you will have two email accounts, the Private Email account and your existing email account. When receiving new email, the email is automatically filed in public or private folders. When sending, all you have to do is choose the email address from which you wish to send email, from the drop-down menu in your email client. How do I automate sending and receiving process ?
In most email clients, such as Thunderbird, Outlook Express, Eudora and Mac Mail, automatic sending and receiving is set up by default. For Outlook 2003 & 2007, tips for automating Sending & Receiving can be found on our main support page. How do I create Private Email folders ?
During the installation process, the WebLOQ Email Auto Configuration tool automatically sets up a Private Email Folder for Thunderbird. For the other email clients, such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora and Mac Mail, the Private Email Folders can be set up using the email clients’ tools for new folders. Quick Folder Tips are provided at www.webloq.com/support for setting up private folders in Outlook. We recommend managing Private Email separately from regular email by setting up a complete set of private folders, including inbox, outbox, drafts, sent items and deleted items. How do I sync my Address Book ?
Whether you use public email or WebLOQ Private Email, the Address Book works the same and can manage both sets of email addresses. Can I use Private Email for Calendar and Scheduling Invites ?
Yes, sending private calendar invites is the same as sending public calendar invites. An alert message will notify you if any invitees do not have a Private Email address, and you can then easily invite them to become a Private Email user. Is there a size limit for content and attachments ?
A size limit is not specified. Just as for standard emails, private emails with attachments ranging in size up to 10-20 MB can be handled by WebLOQ. What happens if I need to recover my encryption keys ?
In the event that a key pair is lost, you will receive security alerts and you will not be able to read the affected private emails. The key pair needs to be restored or replaced. If the key pair is restored you will be able to retrieve your private email. If the key pair is lost and has to be replaced, private emails sent to you will need to be resent by the senders. WebLOQ recommends that you backup your key pair by using the “Copy Account Profile” feature by right clicking on the WebLOQ tray icon. Otherwise, contact Tech Support for a replacement key pair.
