Send & Receive Timeouts

Mozilla Thunderbird 3 - Adjusting Send & Receive Timeouts

This should work for all versions of Mozilla Thunderbird 3.
Check for New Messages Timer
  • On the menu bar go to ‘Tools -> Account Settings’.
  • Select Server Settings for your LOQMail account.

  • Change the time setting of ‘Check for new messages every x minutes’ to 10.
  • Close the dialog box by clicking the ‘OK’ button.
TCP Time Out
  • On the menu bar go to ‘Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General Tab’ (usually opens by default).
  • Select ‘Server Settings’ for your LOQMail account.

  • Click on the ‘Config Editor’ button.
  • A warning will pop up ‘This might void your warranty’.
    About Config
  • Click the ‘I'll be careful, I promise’ button.
  • In the dialog box that opens type ‘mailnews.tcptimeout’ in the filter.
  • That setting should appear. Double click on the setting.
  • A dialog box to change the setting value should appear.
  • That setting should appear. Double click on the setting.
    Enter integer value
  • Change the setting to ‘600’ (10 minutes) and click the ‘OK’ button.
  • Close the Config editor dialog by clicking the ‘OK’ button.
  • Close the options dialog box by clicking the ‘OK’ button.
  • Restart Thunderbird.
