Mozilla Thunderbird
Setting up and configuring LOQMail Private Email
for Mozilla Thunderbird (2.0 or higher)
Automatic Configuration Tool:
After you download and run the LOQMail installer (
Get
it here) you
will be given the choice to run the LOQMail Automatic Configuration
tool. This tool was designed to setup popular email clients with
one click.
Manual Setup:
If you prefer to setup Thunderbird manually or you wish to edit your Private
Email Account preferences you can use the following steps.
- From the Thunderbird Toolbar click "Tools" and select
"Account
Settings"
- To setup a new Private Email Account click "Add Account"
- Select "Email Account" and click "Next"
- Type "Your Name" and "Email Address" then click
"Next"
- Select "POP" for the "Incoming Server", type "127.0.0.1",
uncheck "Use Global Inbox" and click "Next"
- In the "Incoming User Name" box type your Private Email
Address and click ‘Next"
- In the "Account Name" box type
a name for your new Private Email Account (My Private Email) and
click "Next"
- Click "Finish" then from the left hand navigation
pane in the same window click "Outgoing Server" and from
the right side click "Add"
- In the "SMTP Server" window
fill in the following information
- Description :My Private Email (Any account name you would like)
- Server Name :127.0.0.1
- Port : 25 (25 is the default port unless otherwise specified
by your system administrator)
- User Name : johndoe@company.private (This is your
full Private Email Address)
- Click "OK" and click the new
account from the left hand navigation pane, choose the new
"Outgoing Server (SMTP)" from the right and be sure to use
the one we just made which should be listed in the drop down
menu, then click "OK"
To complete the setup process you can
send a private email message to yourself from and to your private
email account.
