LOQMail 2.0 Private Email
Instructions for Mac Mail on Snow Leopard (Mac OSX 10.6)
- Provision user
- Configure a valid user in the LOQMail account services via an existing account or purchased account.
- Download & Install the LOQMail 2.0 agent
- Download the Mac LOQMail 2.0 Installer from the WebLOQ downloads page.
- Click on the software package in the download directory.
- Agree to license agreement.
- LOQMail will install and start, becoming visible on the system dock.
- Click and hold the mouse button over the LOQMail icon. From the popup menu choose Options → "Keep in dock"
- Click and hold the mouse button over the LOQMail icon. From the popup menu choose Options → " Open at Login"
- Configure the LOQMail 2.0 email account
- Open the mail application
- On the Mail Menu Item, choose "Preferences"
- In the dialog box which appears, choose "accounts"
- At the bottom left position in the dialog box click the"'+" sign to add an account
- In the " Add Account" dialog box which opens,
- Supply the account members name in the "Full Name" field.
- Supply your full LOQMail 2.0 email address in the "Email Address" field.
- Supply your LOQMail 2.0 password in the "Password" field.
- Click "Continue" ... the account setup application will briefly try and auto-discover the mail setting but will fail. This is normal. WebLOQ does not publish XML files to auto-provision email accounts.
- On the " Incoming Mail Server"' Dialog box which opens,
- Make sure the "Account Type" drop down has selected " POP"'.
- Enter a meaningful description in the "Description" field. Something like, "LOQMail 2.0 POP"' that makes it clear this is your LOQMail account.
- Satisfy the "Incoming Mail Server" text field with: 127.0.0.1
- Satisfy the "User name" text field with the FULL webloq member's email address including the complete Qualified Mail Domain Name. For example, mac-tester@webloq.private.
- Satisfy the "'Password" text field with the user's LOQMail password.
- Click " Continue." A note will pop up saying something akin to "The POP Server '127.0.0.1"' is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue you might not be able to receive messages." You may safely ignore this message as we have not configured the mail account to use the LOQMail 2.0 ports yet (you will in subsequent steps).
- Click " Continue."'
- On the "Incoming Mail Security"' dialog box which opens,
- Make sure that "Use Sockets Layer (SSL)" is unchecked.
- Make certain the " Authentication" drop-down has " Password" selected.
- Click Continue
- On the " Outgoing Mail Server" dialog box which opens;
- Enter a meaningful description in the 'Description' field, something like, "LOQMail 2.0 SMTP," that makes it clear this is your LOQMail account.
- Satisfy the " Outgoing Mail Server" text field with: 127.0.0.1
- Make sure the checkbox for"'Use only this server" is checked.
- Check the " Use Authentication" checkbox.
- Satisfy the "User name" text field with the FULL webloq member's email address including a complete Qualified Mail Domain Name. For example, mac-tester@webloq.private.
- Satisfy the "Password" text field with the user's LOQMail password.
- Click "Continue." A note will pop up saying something akin to "The SMTP Server '127.0.0.1" is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue you might not be able to send messages." You may safely ignore this message, we have not configured the mail account to use the LOQMail 2.0 ports yet(you will in subsequent steps).
- Click "Continue."
- On the "Outgoing Mail Security" dialog box which opens,
- Make sure that "Use Sockets Layer (SSL)" is unchecked.
- Make certain the " Authentication"' drop-down has "Password" selected.
- Click Continue
- The " Account Summary" dialog which pops up should accurately reflect the data you have entered up to this point.
- Dialog should report the following fields accurately:
- Account Description
- Full Name
- Email Address, should be the full LOQMail email address
- User name (should be identical to email address)
- POP Server: 127.0.0.1, the Use SSL checkbox should NOT be checked
- SMTP Server: 127.0.0.1, the Use SSL checkbox should NOT be checked
- Verify the above and click 'Continue'
- In the accounts dialog, select the account you just created from the list on the left hand side.
- On the " Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" dropdown, choose " Edit SMTP Server List"'
- In the Dialog box which opens choose the LOQMail 2.0 SMTP server from the list of SMTP servers
- Below the list click the advanced tab.
- In the radio box selection which appears, choose " Use Custom Port" and in the text box next to that radio box, enter: 2025
- click "OK"
- In the accounts dialog, select the account you just created from the list on the left hand side.
- Click the advanced tab
- In the Port text box enter: 2110
- Close the dialog box, when prompted to Save changes, choose "Save"
That's it. Test your configuration by sending an email to and from the new account via the WebLOQ LOQMail 2.0 system.
- How to remove the LOQMail 2.0 Private Email Account (Please note, this step will remove all your unarchived LOQMail 2.0 emails)
- Open the Mail application
- On the Mail, choose "Preferences"
- In the dialog box wich appears choose "Accounts"
- Select your LOQMail 2.0 private email account from the accounts on the left hand side of the dialog box.
- Choose the " Account Information" Tab in the dialog box.
- On the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop down list, select " Edit SMTP server list"
- In the dialog box which appears select your LOQMail 2.0 SMTP server and use the "-" button to remove the service (minus button).
- Click " OK."
- Once again, choose your LOQMail 2.0 private email account from the accounts on the left hand side of the dialog box.
- Click the "-" button to remove the selected LOQMail 2.0 POP3 Account (minus button).
- Confirm the removal by clicking "Remove"
- Exit the Accounts Dialog
- Uninstall the LOQMail 2.0 Application
- On the system dock, if running, select the WebLOQ LOQMail 2.0 icon. Hold the button down and choose the "Quit" option.
- Drag the icon into the trash to remove WebLOQ LOQMail 2.0 from the dock.
- Open the Internal Disk for file searching.
- Type " WebLOQ" in the search text box.
- Drag any search results for WebLOQ items into the trash.
- Remove any WebLOQ LOQMail 2.0 private keys from the system
- Log on to the computer as an administrative account.
- Navigate to the "Utilities" folder in the "Applications" section of the Mac Internal Drive.
- Double click on the "Keychain Access" icon to open the application.
- Select "Passwords" from the list of categories in the lower left corner of the window.
- Select any internet passwords named " 127.0.0.1"
- Go to the "Edit" item in the top menu bar and select "Delete"
- Click "Delete" again to confirm the decision (Please note: If your Key Chain access is locked, you will need your administrative password to unlock the access.)
- Repeat steps 5-7 until all the internet passwords named "127.0.0.1" are deleted.
